Yesterday I was watching Katie Couric on “The Early Show” who was promoting her new book, “The Best Advice I Ever Got.” When she began talking about best-selling author Kathryn Stockett, I was amazed to learn how many times she was rejected before she had brilliant first book “The Help” published.
When I heard the number, it made me admire the talented writer even more. I love how dedicated she was to her goals — and her dreams! Above all, I love how she powered through her rejections, which I believe had made her stronger. She has inspired me so much, and now I know that however many rejections I get, I will be published!
I wanted to share three links to Kathryn Stockett with you, as I hope to inspire you and your writing!
Now, I hope you are ready to go after your dreams and write, write, write! Good luck with your writing journey.
J. K. Rowling was rejected twelve times with her Harry Potter manuscript…another good example. I bet those publishers regret that choice.
I didn’t know that about the famous J.K. Rowling! Thanks for filling me in, (I love writer facts). Thanks for your comment! 🙂
I had to look it up. 😀 Yay for research!
There are other famous writers who have been rejected far more than that. Others had to wait as much as 14 years to get their books published.
I have been writing for over 20 years and received several rejections letters which put me off writing for many years. Almost three years ago, I re-dedicated myself to building a career as a writer no matter how long it takes, because it’s something I love to do. I’m enjoying myself this time around and living the dream. Great post!
14 years? Now I’m panicking! LOL! You go girl — I’m so glad you’re “re-dedicated!” 🙂
Thank you for visiting me and for those inspiring links. I’m not giving up.
Thanks for you comment, and I’m glad the links were inspiring! 🙂 Good luck to you and your writing!
This post makes me want to re-explore the traditional vs self publishing debate on my blog…
Might just do it tomorrow.
Ugh! That’s a topic I do not like, so let me know how it turns out, but in some ways, it’s cases like on my blog in which I just want it published. It all comes down to what you want and of course, money…Good luck to you! 🙂
I’ve started the post already and I’m linking back to this post 🙂
Absolutely love this – thank you for the links. I just finished reading The Help. Stories like these are like the fuel we need to just keep on going. 🙂 I love your positive mentality!
Thanks for your comment! 🙂 Good luck to you and your writing!
