You’ve written your first book! Congratulations! Like me, you might be in the editing stage of your book, but aren’t you eager to get back to writing? I know I am!
Last week, I got a surge of energy and ideas to write my 2nd, 3rd and 4th book! It’s hard to believe, but yes, it’s true. With my trusty iPhone’s Notes application, I jotted down the beginning, middle and end of my next books — I just want to write, write, write!
These books will be written differently. I am more prepared to take on whatever struggles or conflicts that I know will come with these next books.
Thats a good idea that you jotted your notes down for the next few books. If they are a series, then it is good for marketing. Yet at the same time you don’t want to be one of these people who starts a project and then goes on to the next and the next without ever finishing the first. Writing is never good reading unless it is edited properly. Editing means get someone who is a professional, not yourself (even if you are the best editor). I’ve found that when my work is edited, the story flows better and makes even better sense. I get frustrated with edits myself but I’ve now learned that I’d rather wait and be patient for a good result. Meanwhile, when I wait to write the next novel, my ideas are enhanced by the fact that I have grown as a person.
Thanks for your comment! Have a great day! 🙂
Congrats about the other stories. But be careful. As Jeannie said above it’s tempting to get caught up with the new story and not finish (edit, submit) your other “old” stories. Take it from someone who knows. I’ve got about 25 stories that I started, but not one is fully edited and ready for submission. I’ve spent the last year on this one story before committing to write another. I have the outlines, but don’t plan to fully start writing until I am finished with the other.
Okay, I confess, I’m working on three books at once. Editing the one that written and outining the other two in preparation for starting them when the first one if finished and submitted. 🙂
Thanks, Elke! 🙂
