Book review for “The Last Resort”
“The Last Resort,” by Malena Lott
Rachel is a Mojo and fitness guru, transforming women’s lives for the better. While in Hawaii at a conference, she helps women discover things within themselves, giving them the confidence to change their lives, making it what they want once they return home. But what everyone doesn’t know is that Rachel’s life isn’t as perfect as it appears! “The Last Resort” is about friendship and being true to yourself — and believing there is such thing as “magic chocolate!”
**Note: If you’ve Malena’s books, then you might feel right at home with these characters, as “readers will catch up with characters from Lott’s previous novels: Ramona (Dating da Vinci), Taylor (The Stork Reality), Macy (Fixer Upper), Georgia (Life’s a Beach) and get introduced to Kelly, who gets her own novel, Something New, in Fall 2012.”
I really enjoyed this book. I liked how Malena Lott crated such different and fun characters. They each had a voice that was easy for the reader to distinguish, which can be a hard thing to do. While no woman had the same worries, the women bonded and helped one another get over their fears, heartbreak and worries. While some women can be catty when they are together, I loved that they weren’t — it made this book stronger and had more meaning, especially at the end!
Some have said that this might be a great beach read, I disagree — this is the perfect beach read. Whether you’re in your 20’s, 30’s or 40 and are on a beach vacation, I recommend this book. It’s funny and light-hearted, with a dash of an inspiring message at the end.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars!
