About Candace N. Ford:
I love to teach. I love to learn. I love to read. I love to write.
As a young girl, I recall writing in notebooks and loving to read all genres of books. I truly enjoyed books that were made into movies. John Grisham is one of my favorite authors. My love for reading allowed me to broaden my imagination in a way that I too desired to author fictional novels.
Although my first writings were inspirational, Christian themed, I knew there was more in me to share with the world. With my three book fictional series, based on a professional woman searching for her why and finding it in a place she’d never imagine, I hope that each reader will embrace every word and discover a love for reading.
Thank you in advance for supporting my work, letting it entertain you and allowing it to broaden your imagination.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Where did you grow up / live now? I grew up in Chicago; I now live in McKinney, TX a suburb of Dallas.
Do you have kids and/or pets? I have four children 16, 10, 8, 3.
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer? Or what first inspired you to write? I have ALWAYS been an avid reader, I loved books that were eventually turned into movies and vice versa, but it took me a while to realize that I wanted to be an author. Maybe I thought it was unreachable or just didn’t correlate at all with my love for accounting. My desire to help women who were hurting from failed relationships, seeking God or just wanting to launch businesses, caused me to begin writing a weekly devotional. I wrote these devotionals for over five years and one day decided to take the best 52 devotions and package them in a book and that was my first published book.
Where/When do you best like to write? Anytime of day and any day. I like to write when I want to not when I’m forced to. My creativity flows best when I’m not married to a deadline.
When you are struggling to write/have writer’s block, what are some ways that help you find your creative muse again? I watch Law & Order episodes, lol the original series is FILLED with real life fiction and it gives me great ideas.
What’s the best writing advice you have ever received? Never coat your words in sugar, be real and your readers will appreciate it.
What person(s) has/have helped you the most in your career? My husband, he is my greatest support and my children they are brutally, lovingly honest about my work.
Who are some of your favorite authors? John Grisham, Anne Rice, Myles Munroe, James Goll, Kathryn Stockett
On a Friday night, what are you most likely to be doing? Family night with my kids, we order pizza and binge on Netflix movies
What was your greatest challenge in writing this book? Staying focused. While I was writing the book, my family and I went through a year of homelessness. Our business could not sustain our living overhead and we were forced to live by faith daily in myriads of hotels in the North Texas area. So finding time to write was hard when my mind was on the well being of our family but with God’s grace I pressed through and not only pushed out the first book but got halfway through the second and developed the concept of the third.
What do you think makes a good story? I think the “realness” of the places and the characters make a good story. The readers should be able to relate to the characters love, hate, emotions. As well if the places are familiar that truly makes the back drop of the story more real and relatable.
Do you have any interesting writing habits or superstitions? I have written three books in a day. Just started in the morning and ended in the evening. I left the table to only go the bathroom and my loving husband brought breakfast, lunch and dinner to me. This type or writing I don’t recommend, but it is fun to challenge yourself in your creativity.
