Chick Lit Goddess’s Five Favorite Reads in 2013!

December 31, 2013 5 Comments

I planned to read 32 books this year, but I ended up reading 34. While I read most of them for reviews and only a few for pleasure, overall, it was a great year. I’ve fallen in love with new authors and their books. With the exception of #4, it was the first time I’d read anything by the author, and it won’t be my last!

…Now, for my #1 pick…

It was hard to narrow it down to my favorite book of 2013, there was just no way I could pick so I had to make it a tie. The following two books were AMAZING! Not only is the writing witty, the characters and story lines are unforgettable. If you’re looking for a feel-good, quick and fun read, the following two, then I know you’ll love Blogger Girl by Meredith Schorr and Finding Lucas by Samantha Stroh Bailey.

Book review of “Double Click”

“Double Click” by Lisa Becker

Book Description:

Fans of the romantic hit Click: An Online Love Story will enjoy another voyeuristic dive into the lives of Renee, Shelley, Ashley, Mark and Ethan, as Double Click picks up with their lives six months later. Are Renee and Ethan soul mates? Does Mark ever go on a date? Has Shelley run out of sexual conquests in Los Angeles? Will Ashley’s judgmental nature sabotage her budding relationship? Through a marriage proposal, wedding, new baby and unexpected love twist, Double Click answers these questions and more. Readers will continue to cheer, laugh, cry and cringe following the email exploits of Renee and friends.

My Review:

I was very excited to receive a copy of “Double Click.”  I missed these characters, so it was nice to get reacquainted with them.  One thing I love most about this book is the format.  When I read “Click: An Online Love Story” (read my review HERE) it was different to read a book of emails, but I found it to be a quick read, and “Double Click” was no different.  Lisa Becker’s characters are so well written that I found myself skipping over the “to” and “from” parts to read the emails, immediately knowing who they were to and who they were from.  The characters are funny and witty, and it’s easy to see that they, even some don’t get along, are a tight-knitted group of friends.

I really don’t want to give anything away, but here are just a few quick comments about how I feel what happens to the characters in “Double Click”:

  • Renee: Love her!  I love how she’s always there for her friends.  As for her relationship with Ethan, I thought it was sweet, but there was something about Ethan’s character that made me think he wasn’t working all the time, but in the end…nope, I can’t spoil it for you, I was happy with how her part of the story ended.  (You’ll know that I mean when you read the book.  😉
  • Mark:  LOL!  Oh, Mark!  He’s seems to be the calm one in the group, but when he begins dating a certain someone who loves cats, chaos erupts, but he handles it very well.  With Mark’s ending, I was kind of surprised, but wish him the best for his future.
  • Shelly!  She’s so awesome, and in many ways, she’s a lot like me.  I was shocked that she changed a lot in this book, but for the better.  While she’s still the friend who’s sarcastic and doesn’t hold anything back, she did this time…Way to go, Shelly!
  • Ashley: Wow!  She experiences a lot of changes in her life and at times I felt sorry for her, but she’s still true to her heart and her family and friends.

Lisa Becker has done it again!  “Double Click” was a fast and wonderful read with unforgettable characters, and it answers lingering questions.

If you’re looking for a funny Chick Lit to read while at the beach this summer, I highly recommend this book!

I give “Double Click” 4 stars!

Book Cover Reveal – DOUBLE CLICK

March 18, 2013 3 Comments

I’ve been waiting a month to share this, so today, on my 32nd birthday, I’d like to share with you the cover reveal of “Double Click” by the lovely Lisa Becker!

“Double Click” is special to me because Lisa’s other book, “Click: An Online Love Story”, was the first review I conducted for Chick Lit Goddess!  So, as you might assume, when I saw the quote that I’d written on the front of “Double Click”, I was touched so much that it brought me to tears.  Lisa, thank you!

Now, if you “Click: An Online Love Story” as much as I did, then I know you’ll love “Double Click” just as much!
