“Maybe Tomorrow” by Erin Cawood

Blurb:

Does a heart ever really heal from its first break?

On an unseasonably hot night in late September, Dr. Keon McGowan is called away from a family gathering to a hospital emergency. Amongst his patients that night is a blast from his past he’d rather forget. He’ll certainly never forgive butterfly hunter Darcia Davenport for leaving him alone as a single dad while she chased butterflies through the Amazon rainforest.

Coming face to face with the woman who broke his heart after all this time, Keon realises that he has never fully healed from it. But any chance of finding closure is ripped away when Darcy chooses to end treatment and live her final weeks without regret. Can Keon let her go? Or will he fight for the tomorrow they might never have?

MAYBE TOMORROW is an emotional journey of love caught between fate and destiny.

BOOK REVIEW: “A Beautiful Kind of Love” by Ellie Wade

ABKOL banner

ABKOL Teaser- everything with Jax was always effortlessBlurb: Every choice has a consequence.

I believe in soul mates. Why? Because I have one and his name is Jax Porter.

I have known Jax my whole life and I have loved him with every breath I’ve ever taken. The fact that we were born a mere month apart to mothers that are best friends has made us inseparable since birth.

What we have is so rare, one would think our story would be written, our fate sealed. But, unfortunately that’s not how life works. Life offers us many choices that can turn destiny into chance.

I now find myself heading toward a destination that I could have never imagined and I have to figure out where to go from here.

Will the choices that have been made change our path forever or will fate find its way?

My Review: Every now and then, I will buy books based solely on its cover, and when I saw the cover for “A Beautiful Kind of Love,” I knew I had to have a copy. After reading the blurb, it was easy to believe I’d fall in love with not only the story, but the characters, too.

After finishing this book last night, I was so overwhelmed with Lily and Jax’s love story that I went through a few tissues. From beginning to end, this passionate love story was a page-turner, filled with so many unexpected twists and turns.

At first, I had a lot of trouble understanding where Jax was coming from, wondering why he was being so selfish to make such a life-altering choice for himself and Lily, but at the end, it felt so real, and it made me realize that life really be harsh, depending on certain choices we make, (sorry, no spoilers on what happened).

As for Lily, I loved her character and could definitely relate to her. She’s a romantic who just wants to be in love with her childhood best friend, but that all changes, thanks to the “love of her life.” I applauded her for how strong she was. Though moving on is always hard, it was very obvious that Jax was never forgotten.

If you’re looking for a quick, romantic and sexy read about falling in love with your best friend, I highly recommend this book, and it would also make for a great holiday read!

I give “A Beautiful Kind of Love” 5 stars!

**Note: “A Beautiful Kind of Love” is book one in the Choices series, and I’m hoping to have a review for  book two, “A Forever Kind of Love,” before the year’s over.

Blurb:

They say there’s always one summer that changes you…

Summer by the Sea is a beautiful, heart-warming summer read about sisters, first love and not always getting what we want – but sometimes ending up with exactly what we need.

For Faith the one summer she can’t forget is when she fell in love as a teenager – only for her sister, Casey, to steal her man.

Now, at the request of her beloved ninety year-old grandmother, Faith has agreed to a family holiday – at their childhood beach house, where it all began.

Faith hasn’t seen her sister in years but is finally ready to forgive and forget, enjoy the sunshine and relive happy memories.

What she’s not ready for is meeting Jake Buchanan – the owner of the beach house – or the long-forgotten feelings he ignites in her.

Can Faith overcome the hurt of the past, rekindle the close bond she had with Casey and make this summer THE ONE to remember?

JennyHalePic**About author, Jenny Hale:

When she graduated college, one of Jenny’s friends said “Look out for this one; she’s going to be an author one day”. Despite being an avid reader and a natural storyteller, it wasn’t until that very moment that the idea of writing novels occurred to her.

Sometimes our friends can see the things that we can’t. Whilst she didn’t start straight away, that comment sowed a seed and several years, two children and hundreds of thousands of words later, Jenny finished her first novel. Coming Home for Christmas went on to be a Kindle hit on both sides of the Atlantic – reaching the top 20 in the UK and top 10 in the US. Summer by the Sea is Jenny’s fourth novel.

Always Something There to Remind Me

Book review of “Always Something There to Remind Me”AlwaysSomethingThereToRemindMeCover

“Always Something There to Remind Me” by Beth Harbison

Book Description:

Can you ever really know if love is true? And if it is, should you stop at anything to get it?

Two decades ago, Erin Edwards was sure she’d already found the love of her life: Nate Lawson. Her first love. The one with whom she shared everything–dreams of the future, of children, plans for forever. The one she thought she would spend the rest of her life with. Until one terrible night when Erin made a mistake Nate could not forgive and left her to mourn the relationship she could never forget or get over.

Today, Erin is contentedly involved with a phenomenal guy, maneuvering a successful and exciting career, and raising a great daughter all on her own. So why would the name “Nate Lawson” be the first thing to enter her mind when her boyfriend asks her to marry him?

In the wake of the proposal, Erin finds herself coming unraveled over the past, and the love she never forgot. The more she tries to ignore it and move on, the more it haunts her.

Always Something There to Remind Me is a story that will resonate with any woman who has ever thought of that one first love and wondered, “Where is he?” and “What if…?” Filled with Beth Harbison’s trademark nostalgia humor and heart, it will transport you, and inspire you to believe in the power of first love.

My Review:

I rarely buy books at bookstores anymore, but when I was at my local B&N a few weekends ago, I saw this book, read what it was about (I’m a huge sucker for when Heroines wonder about their first love), and bought it.

“Always Something There to Remind Me” was easy to get into, and I found the characters to be likable most of the time, no matter what their ages were. I liked how the reader got a picture of what Erin and Nate were like as teens and as adults. Though, at times, I found Erin to be a little absorbed with herself, but by the time the book ends, she seems to have changed, which was good. I took it as a sign that she’d finally grown up.

This was my first time reading anything by Beth Harbison, and it won’t be my last. She’s a gifted writer who makes you fall in love with the characters and story. With twists and turns, and a shocking revelation, I laughed and cried, and loved how it ended! (Without any spoilers, I loved Erin’s daughter). I recommend this book to anyone who still wonders about their first love, especially if you’re considering marrying someone else, but can’t seem to get him out of your mind…

I give this book 5 stars!
