A FEMALE GUARDING HER HEART . . .

Hot-tempered, agile, and jaded, Jordan spurns the match her father is pushing between her and the swaggering mammoth, Raider. She’d happily let one of her fawning sisters have him, but her packmates are taking bets on who Raider will ultimately claim. Jordan wants nothing to do with the insufferable beast . . . until he saves her life.

A MALE CARRYING THE WEIGHT OF HIS PACK . . .

All brawn and no brains, that’s what most male shifters think when they see Raider. The females treat him as a strong, attractive prize they want to sink their claws into. Only one female avoids him, which is fine with him until they are paired up for patrol. The hot-blooded she-wolf doesn’t have to like him, but she’ll have to find a way to perform her duties.

ENTANGLED IN A WEB OF DECEIT . . . AND DESIRE

When Jordan’s life is threatened, along with several packmates, the mating games take a dangerous turn.

Something sinister is happening in Wolf Hollow and outside forces threaten the impassioned bond forming between two shifters fated to be together.

“The Boy Next Door” by Ann Anders

Blurb:

A VOYEUR, A HERO, AND A LITTLE SEXUAL HEALING

Penny never intended watching him, but the window is right there. And, damn, those abs, that chest! Camo pants – worn like that – ought to be illegal. He’s way out of her league. And so young! But a girl can look, right? Ever since the divorce she’s just felt so… invisible.

Military pilots get almost any woman they want. So when Ms. Penny Pyncher tells Chaz he’s too young for her, he can’t help but take a second look. She’s not his usual type. She’s sassy, she’s earthy. She’s real. Hell, if she doesn’t do something for him.

A thirty-something divorcee and a twenty-something injured navel pilot fall head first into fate’s trap – a trap that lands them both in some serious sexual healing. And it’s good. It’s really good. The question is, can fate turn into love?

EXCERPT

“A decade. An entire decade.” She stopped in front of the Lean Cuisine and Weight Watchers dinners. Opening the freezer door, she picked out two lasagna dinners, two baked chicken dinners, and two chicken enchiladas and tossed them all in the basket.
Chaz flinched at the thought of all the preservatives she was going to consume.
“You on a diet or something?”
She counted the meals in her basket and let the door slam shut on the freezer case. “I don’t cook.” She shrugged.
“A decade is nothing. In the grand scheme of things.”
Then she picked out coffee and sugar free flavored creamer. “I’m also cynical and divorced.”
And a box of donuts.
“You’re a strange woman, Penny.”
“Not strange,” she responded without thinking. “Realistic.”
He could argue with her. He could tell her about the lives he’d been unable to save, lives of innocent kids who’d witnessed an eternity of hell.
Death was a deal breaker. All bets were off.  A decade. A divorce. They meant nothing.
He’d simply have to convince her.

**ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Married to the same man for over 25 years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs.
After owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got caught in the financial crisis and lost everything; our business, our home, even our car.
At this point, I put my B.A. in Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender.
Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.
And then the energy market dropped off.
And then my dog died.
I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only my imagination.
I am happy to have found my place in life.
Finally.

“Lost on Anna Maria Island” by Kristina Knight

Blurb: Florida Warriors star defensive end, Colby Sullivan, is the best in the business, but since his parents dropped the news that he not only had a biological sister but a biological twin sister, he’s been on his heels. He feels like he’s in the middle of a cover defense with no one backing him on the strong side. Colby knows, as the eldest, it is his job to keep the family going, but he can’t figure out what all this means to him with the daily interruptions from either his well-meaning parents or his rallying brothers. A flirtation with the girl next door is the perfect distraction, but all too soon she’s way past his defenses and heading for a touchdown that his heart just isn’t ready for.

Between her baby sister’s wedding and her job rehabbing Colby’s image, Madalyn Hunter is holding on by a thread. Mad understands football, cover defenses, and option offenses, but dealing with sneaky paparazzi, her sister’s obsession with the perfect wedding, and Colby’s not-friend-like kisses has her ready to throw a Hail Mary. The more time she spends with Colby, the harder it is to resist the gorgeous man who has always been her best friend. It’s fourth and goal with love on the line, but can Madalyn teach this star defender that the best way to protect his heart is to give it to her?

EXCERPT

“I’m not here just because Henry thinks I need to be associated with football’s Queen of Nice. I’m here because there is something going on between the two of us that I can’t ignore any more.” He paused, and uncertainty floated into his eyes. Mad swallowed. “Mad, I don’t want to ignore it.” His voice took on a husky edge that made the hairs on the back of Mad’s neck stand up.

The butterflies stilled in her belly, and for a moment, everything else faded, too. It was just the two of them, and she knew the right thing to do would be to break whatever this spell was that was building between the two of them. For the first time in her life, she didn’t want to do the right thing. She didn’t want to be the nice girl, the good girl. For once, she wanted to do what she wanted to do. And she wanted to do it with Colby.

Dance in formal wear at this ridiculously theatrical party.

Walk on the beach in the moonlight.

Watch a romantic movie and share a bowl of popcorn and not make a concerted effort to keep her hand from brushing against his.

Wake up in his arms. Madalyn swallowed.

“Dance with me,” he said, holding out his hand. The band struck up a waltz. Of course, Livy’s first dance would be a waltz. From the corner of her eye, she watched Carlton sweep her sister onto the dance floor, the two of them flowing together as if they were part of the song. She could do that. Just let herself get swept away for a little bit.

Oh, this was going down the wrong path, and it was going fast. She should get things back under control. Back where Colby was her friend, and she understood that things between them would only ever be friend-related.

“Forget Henry and the paparazzi and my getting drunk the other night,” he said.

She needed to remind Colby they were friends, just friends. Remind him of the image rehab plans. Remind herself that this was only going to end in either broken-hearted suffering or the loss of a friendship.

“I want to dance with you, Mad.”

Madalyn ignored all the shoulds and reminders circling her mind, and put her hand in Colby’s. “Okay.” She wanted to dance with him, too. Maybe take things farther than a dance. Maybe, for the first time since they were kids, see if the undercurrents between them could be more than undercurrents.

Colby swept her onto the dance floor, which flowed around and over the pool area. Groomsmen and bridesmaids had joined Livy and Carlton, along with other party guests, on the dance floor. Madalyn caught a few flashes as different people took pictures, but she didn’t worry about what they were shooting or why. It was all she could do to keep her feet on the ground and to keep her heart from beating out of her chest.

Colby’s hand was warm at the small of her back. His thumb brushed bare skin at her waist, and Madalyn couldn’t hold back a shiver at his touch. His other hand was firm on hers, and he waltzed as effortlessly as he chased down running backs on the football field. She caught scents of ocean and something else that was inherently Colby. Something she usually worked hard at not allowing herself to notice.

Madalyn let herself be swept away. By the music, by Colby. She wasn’t completely sure. More than that, she didn’t care. Just for tonight, when things were already surreal from Livy’s elaborate staging, maybe it would be okay to lose herself in him.

Enjoy the feel of her skin against his, the way his hand seemed to burn, in the best possible way, where it touched her lower back.

Would you switch lives with someone you just met?

Sabrina Monroe is poised and ready for her future as Mrs. Todd Edward Blakely. Everything seems perfect, but on the big day, suddenly she’s not so sure. Her nicely mapped out life ahead of her, she finds herself in her own movie scene as the runaway bride, climbing out of the bathroom window. All she can think is escape.

Addison Bloom needs a life makeover. She’s travelled the world to find love–and failed. On her way back from yet another friend’s wedding, she starts to feel ill at the mere thought of seeing another veil that’s not hers. Should she go back home and marry her former sweetheart, or stick it out looking for love in her new home?

Sabrina and Addison are both on the run, wanting to escape to a new life. As the two strangers talk at an airport, discovering they have the same job at opposite ends of the country, a crazy idea unfolds–one which might provide the answers they’ve both been looking for.

Is there such a thing as a One Way Ticket to a new life, or will they find they’re running from themselves, not just the past?

EXCERPT:

Checking both ways once more, I slid out onto the street, enjoying the feeling as I glided along. As I turned left across the next street, I gripped the handlebars. Taking easy turns around a quiet, residential block was one thing: this was quite another.

Sure, I was going at a pace a snail would be embarrassed by, but being around other traffic had my nerves jangling.

I stopped at a crossing, waiting for a group of trendy, young women with shopping bags to saunter across. They were deep in conversation and didn’t even notice me, my hands sweating with first-time nerves.

As I started up again, I must have given the scooter too much gas. I lurched forward, my body lagging behind. I began to wobble from side to side, veering toward the sidewalk.

This could not be happening!

In a blind panic, I yanked on the brake, but it was too late. My front wheel hit the curb, sending both me and Sabrina’s beautiful scooter crashing into a potted hedge. I lay, face down, my butt in the air and my helmeted head hanging over the large pot, wondering how I had got it so horribly, horribly wrong.

“Are you okay?” a masculine voice called from above.

Thoroughly dazed, I blinked at a pair of white sneakers in front of my eyes. Gingerly, I placed my hands on the sidewalk to push myself up.

The person in the sneakers crouched down in front of me. “That was quite a fall.”

“I think . . . I . . .” I trailed off as I raised my eyes to his. Warm brown with flecks of gold, his forehead crinkled in concern. His light brown hair was a little ruffled, as though he’d been running his fingers through it, and he was sporting more than a touch of five o’clock shadow on his chiseled jaw.

If I hadn’t already been lying face down on a city street, I may very well have swooned.

“Are you hurt? Any broken bones?” he asked.

Incapable of removing my eyes from his, I patted my face, wriggled my toes, and shook my head, checking everything was still in working order. “I . . . I don’t think so,” I replied with an embarrassed smile, my voice breathless—whether from my accident or being next to this guy, I couldn’t say.

“Can you stand up?”

Confident the only thing seriously damaged was my self-respect, I nodded my head. “I think so. I may need some help to get up, though.”

“Of course.” He stood up from his crouched position in front of me and disappeared from my view.

A moment later, I felt warm, strong hands around my middle. “Ready?”

“Yes,” I managed, and within a heartbeat, he had lifted me up, flipped me over, and held me in his arms. He smiled down at me.

I felt like a princess, saved by a valiant knight—only from a red Vespa called “Velma,” not an angry dragon.

I smiled at him, my heart beating hard as I enjoyed the feel of being enveloped in his arms.

I’d never been one of those girls who was into the fairy-tale thing, had never been overly interested in being “saved” by some guy.

I always figured, if I needed saving, I could do it myself.

This? This felt amazing. I’m sure the feminist in me was rolling her eyes, but there was something in having a hot guy—and this guy was most assuredly hot—coming to your rescue.

Far too soon, he guided me to a standing position, not removing his hand from my waist. “Are you sure you’re okay? Do you think you should get checked out? Just in case?”

I nodded at him, biting my lip. He was tall—at least six foot—his shoulders were broad, his white T-shirt hinting at a firm, athletic body beneath. I swallowed. “No. I’m okay,” I squeaked.

He nodded and smiled, his face lighting up, his teeth gleaming white next to his tanned skin. “Good. Sorry, I guess you don’t need me to hold you anymore, then.”

He pulled his arm away and I wanted to scream, “No! Take me in your arms once more!” Luckily, I didn’t, because that would have been beyond awkward—as much as I wanted it.

“I . . . I can’t believe I crashed,” I said, shaking my head, my hand on my chest.

“Well, it was more of a flop than a crash.”

My eyes widened. “A flop?”

He nodded, biting back a smile. “You just kind of fell off the scooter. I don’t think that really qualifies as a crash.”

Oh, this was getting better and better! Crashing the bike was one thing; flopping off a scooter was quite another.

“So, nothing’s broken? Well, other than the plant.” His voice was warm, like melting butter and sweet syrup on a stack of pancakes.

I tore my eyes from my cute Knight in Shining Sneakers’ face to assess the bruised and battered hedge in front of me. There was an Addison-shaped dent in the middle, much like the shapes cartoon characters formed when they burst through walls. “Oh, no!” I bit my lip. “I guess I’ll have to pay for a new one.”

“No, it’s all good.” I watched as he leaned over and reconstructed the bush, even picking up a couple of branches that had broken off on impact and stuffing them into the hedge. “See? Just like new.”

“Thank you.” I laughed as a blush bloomed in my cheeks.

He waggled his eyebrows in response. “It’s all part of the service. Hey, where’s your accent from? Australia?”

Ha! At least he had the right hemisphere. “New Zealand.”

“New Zealand, huh? That’s cool. Looks like a great place to visit.”

“No ‘it’s a long way away’ or ‘I’ve seen the Lord of the Rings movies’?” I replied and immediately regretted it. Just because that was people’s usual reaction didn’t mean this guy was going to say it.

“No,” he replied uncertainly.

“Sorry, force of habit.”

He smiled at me, and I swear my heart skipped a beat. “Want some help with that?” He gestured at Sabrina’s scooter, lying in the gutter.

“Oh, my god, the scooter!” My hand flew to my face. Sabrina’s gorgeous shiny red Vespa! In my post-accident-hot-guy haze, I hadn’t given Velma a second thought.

“Let me do it.” In one deft move, he lifted it up by the handlebars and righted it on its stand. “Cool bike. My . . . um, friend has one just like it.

“It’s not even mine. It belongs to a friend.”

“Well, it looks like your friend’s scooter has a dent.” He pointed at the front wheel guard, where there was indeed a small dent. “It probably happened when you hit the curb.”

“Yeah, I guess.” The heat in my cheeks intensified.

“Well, I’m glad you’re okay. I should probably get going.”

“Oh.” I was crestfallen. He couldn’t leave!

Weren’t brave knights meant to whisk their women off their feet, take them away to some castle, and marry them?

Okay, maybe a castle and marriage was taking things a little too far here—this was the twenty-first century—but I wanted more time with this guy.

“Drive safely. And watch out for those curbs.” He flashed me a grin and turned to leave.

“Hey, wait!” He turned back to look at me. “Can’t I at least buy you a coffee to say thanks?”

“Um, I wish I could but I have a meeting to get to.”

“Oh, okay.” I forced a smile, trying not to show him how disappointed I felt. “Thanks for helping me. It was great to meet you.”

“You too, Kiwi.” I smiled at the nickname. “Try not to drive into any more unsuspecting hedges.” He held my gaze for a beat, two.

“I’ll try,” I replied, breathless once more—only this time, I knew with certainty, it was because of him.

I watched him walk down the street, away from me, until he was lost in the crowd. I couldn’t stop smiling to myself as I inspected Sabrina’s bike, wondering how much it would cost to get the wheel guard fixed.

I thought of the handsome Knight in Shining Sneakers.

Biking accidents and damaged hedges aside, moving to San Francisco was quite possibly the best decision I had ever made.

“A Season to Lie” by Emily Littlejohn

Blurb: Last year’s Inherit the Bones sent shockwaves across the crime fiction genre. Now author Emily Littlejohn returns with her passionate, stalwart Colorado detective in A SEASON TO LIE (Minotaur Books; on sale November 14, 2017; $25.99).

Detective Gemma Monroe is back in the game after returning from maternity leave. And what a first day back: a blizzard is blowing into her idyllic Colorado ski town, and while Gemma hopes for a quiet, warm evening in, she knows it will mean plenty of calls out for snow-related accidents. But when an anonymous caller reports seeing a lurker at the local high school, Gemma gets far more than she bargained for. Behind the school building, half covered in a drift of snow, lies the gruesomely murdered body of a world-famous author—with a note stuffed in his mouth threatening that “This is only the beginning…”

Now Gemma is knee deep in a high profile investigation; working against the clock with the threat of a possible serial killer on the loose.

**About the Author: Emily Littlejohn was born and raised in southern California and now lives in Colorado. If she’s not writing, reading, or working at the local public library, she’s enjoying the mountains with her husband and sweet old dog. She has a deep love of horror stories, butter pecan ice cream, and road trips. A Season to Lie is her second novel, following Inherit the Bones.

**Additional Praise for Emily Littlejohn and the Detective Gemma Monroe Mysteries:

“In her well-crafted debut, Emily Littlejohn skillfully captures life in a small town—and the insidious secret keeping that can come with it. Inherit the Bones is the perfect fall page-turner.”
– Real Simple on Inherit the Bones

“Emily Littlejohn creates a colorful mix of circus lore, town intrigue, class privilege and police procedural. Add in a pregnant detective, always a favorite for me, and we have a definite winner.” – Raleigh News & Observer on Inherit the Bones

“Littlejohn writes with assurance and skill. The story’s plotting is sure-footed, and the characters are well developed and believable…Highly recommended.”
– Library Journal (starred review, Debut of the Month) on Inherit the Bones

“Monroe, a fantastic, fallibly human and fierce protagonist, soon realizes the case may even have roots as far back as the unsolved Woodsman child murders that have haunted the town for decades. Here’s hoping this excellent debut from Colorado writer Emily Littlejohn is the first of many.”
– Cleveland Plain-Dealer on Inherit the Bones

“Engrossing…Littlejohn effectively captures the tensions of a community struggling with its demons while seeking to attract tourist dollars, and Gemma—six-months pregnant with her first child, uncertain of the future with her partner, and paired with a charming bad-boy cop she doesn’t trust—is a compelling lead.” – Publishers Weekly on Inherit the Bones

“Small town Colorado police detective Gemma Monroe is a human and fallible heroine I can’t wait to meet again, and Littlejohn’s prose is lyrical and gripping —the book is a sure bet for one of the finest debut novels of the year.” – Deborah Crombie

“If you read only one debut mystery this year, make it this one. Inherit the Bones is that good. Compelling writing, a stunning setting in a Colorado ski town, a plot that twists with surprises, and a police deputy who happens to be six-months pregnant—I loved all of it.”
– Margaret Coel, author of The Man Who Fell From the Sky

VIGIL ANDI - AUTHOR

I love to read! It’s become such a big part of my life over the years that I decided to give life to the characters that were running around in my head. This process is still very new for me, but I hope you enjoy these characters as much as I do!

I’m married with 2 wonderful kids. Honestly, they’re great. I’m a lucky girl. We live in Indiana on Lake Michigan and are fortunate enough to experience 4 seasons every year.

I’m a huge animal lover. We share our home with dogs, cats, and a chameleon right now. They make each day an experience.

Our kids are very active in many sports, but gymnastics and baseball occupy the majority of our time. If you have kids in sports, you’ll be able to relate to my first book, Raising The Bar. .Book Two is called Surprise Six, which is Tangier and Judge’s book and a continuation of book one.

My new book, Vigil Andi, was quite a challenge and not anything I thought I’d ever write. It consumed me for almost a year, but so happy to share it with you! If you have any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you!

“House Divided” by Jami Deise

Blurb: When it comes to the work/life seesaw, Erin Murphy is a balancing-act expert. True, she works for Democrats while her husband Jack is a spokesman for Republicans, but at home they’re in sync. Their jobs stay at the office. Their children — 13-year-old animal-nut Jessica and 8-year-old Batman-obsessed Michael – come first. And her career is just as important as his. But on Election Day 2014, everything changes. Suddenly, Erin is out of a job … and Jack is the new star of The Right Choice TV network! As Erin searches frantically for her next position, Jack begins to practice what he preaches. Their house turns into a battlefield:  What’s wrong with saying “Merry Christmas” to their Jewish neighbors? How can there be global warming when it’s cold outside? Jessica takes her mother’s side (her father is a “disgusting planet murderer”), while Michael just thinks it’s cool that Dad’s on TV and he’s making a million dollars. And Michael’s not the only one impressed with the family’s new money: Who are all these new people floating around Jack, and what do they want? As Erin’s friends take sides about what she should do with Jack 2.0, the only person who understands is a fellow stay-at-home parent: Scott. Scott is easy to look at, and just as frustrated with his marriage as Erin is… But the biggest battle is Erin’s alone:  Should she keep pounding the pavement? Or become a perfect trophy wife and mother that Jack now wants her to be? Without a title and a salary, how can Erin figure out who she really is?

Excerpt:

Because even though Jack and I shared the same sarcastic sense of humor, love for action movies and disdain for country music, we spent our working hours opposing each other.

Jack and I met on opposite sides of a House/Senate conference committee table. It was three in the morning, and my colleague Zoe Nelson and I were arguing passionately on why a funding mechanism for recycling that our boss placed in an energy bill absolutely, positively needed to be preserved no matter what. Zoe was in tears and I’d been shouting. The people on Jack’s side of the table were just as wound up.

But Jack was just sitting there, scribbling on a note pad. I thought he was mapping out a response, but when I looked over, he’d drawn a very professional caricature of his boss, complete with the drunkard nose and hairy ears. I covered my mouth to hide the laughing fit, but he looked over and smiled. And then he reached into his backpack and pulled out two beers. I was hooked.

On our first date that weekend, he told me a friend of his dad’s got him the job with his Republican Congressman — he didn’t really care one way or another. Fifteen years later, that hadn’t really changed. Currently the vice president of communications for the American Business Association, Jack watched politics the way a sports reporter watched sports. Some days it was because he was cynical; other days he just didn’t care. He worked for ABA because they offered him more money than the hospital people and the shipping people did.

Republicans paid a lot better than Democrats. Even though Jack was only a level or two above me, his salary was three times what I brought home. Which worked out, because Jack was only in it for the money. Maybe that’s why he was so good at his job. It’s easier to craft arguments for or against a position if you really didn’t care either way.

The other benefit to Jack’s not caring was that we didn’t take our work arguments home. Our house was about our children, thirteen-year-old Jessica and eight-year-old Michael, their after-school activities, where we were going on vacation, questions such as have you seen my yellow tie? It was a place of peace, an oasis in a political jungle.
