ToniAleo

About author, Toni Aleo:  My name is Toni Aleo!  (and I’m a total dork!)  I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.  I have been told I have anger issues, but I think it’s cause of my intense love for hockey!  I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!  When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.

I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life…probably Belle, and did I mention I love hockey?

INTERVIEW

Welcome back, Toni! Since your last interview, what you been up to?  What havent’t I been up to is the real question!! Things have been insane. I finished Blue Lines and thank goodness HOCEKEY IS BACK!

Congratulations on being published by Random House! How did you find out?  Well it is the craziest thing. I remember being a dinner and I got an email on my author account and it was from the publisher but I thought it was fan mail and I was like, I’ll get to it when I get home because I didn’t want to be rude and type out a response, so I didn’t even read it all. Well I get home, and I read it and I swear I screamed so loud, running through the house telling my husband that RANDOM HOUSE WANTS TO PUBLISH ME! It was insane. I found out at the end of September that they wanted me and signed the contract in December.

What did you do to celebrate?  We had a big party and it was so great. All my friends and family celebrating my accomplishment. It was a blessing.

You recently finished “Blue Lines.”  Can you tell us a little bit about it?  I am seriously excited about this book. It will be different from the other three in the fact that the Hero will not be chasing the Heroine. He will be running from her while she tries to convince him that she is a sure bet. It is going to be great.

Who and/or what motivates you to write?  Hockey, my husband, and Shea Weber. 🙂

Are you characters and/or events in any of your books based on real life?  Yes, all of it. Lol. My friends read my books and some get mad, while others laugh so hard they can’t breathe. People aren’t safe around me. I get inspiration from everything.

Walk us through a day in your life:  Well, I wake up, get my kiddos off to school, come home, clean, run errands and then write. On special days, I get to go watch my daughter dance, my husband play hockey, my son play whatever sport he is doing at the time, and then of course, I go to as many Nashville Predators games I can get too!

You’re a huge hockey fan, but have or would you ever incorporate other sports into your books?  I don’t know. I like to write about what I know. I know hockey, so I don’t think I’ll ever stray into another sport. Now I do plan to completely leave the sport behind one day and write something different, but for right now, I am happy with my little hockey romance.

What author(s) would you like to meet?  Rachel Gibson, Richelle Mead, Kristin Higgins, Julie James, and Nora Roberts. They are all my heros 🙂

How do you come up with the titles of your books?  By complete luck. I sit there and think of the book and then hockey terms and by the grace of God, they come to me! Lol.

If you weren’t an author, what would you be?  A nurse. I quit my job as a nurse to become a full time author.

Tell us about your upcoming projects:  Well I am about to start writing book 5, Breaking Away from the Assassins Series, but I also will start a new adult series with the first booked called Rush of Love. I am pretty excited, scared and nervous for the new genre but excited.

Additional comments by Toni:  Thanks so much for having me!!

Interview with Toni

Describe your works in five sentences:  I have written an amazing hockey romance that I think people will love! Some are nervous because it is a hockey romance but it isn’t about the hockey, it’s about the romance. I write about real women, and men, with real problems. My books are not cookie cutter romances, they have serious topics and issues. I love my series and think you will too!

Tell us about your books?  So far there is three: Taking Shots, Trying to Score, and Empty Net. Each one follows the main leads which are trying to find love. The hockey players are hot and sexy, and the females are real, and not all perfect. Each story will make you smile, laugh out loud and even cry.

What is it about Shea Weber that makes your toes curl?  Oh lordy, don’t get me started. That man is just sex with a hockey stick…rawr.

As a busy mom and wife, how and when do you find time to write?  I have no clue. I was sitting the other day, trying to get the motivation to write Blue Lines and I said, how in the world did I write three books in a year in a half? Sheesh!

Which do you prefer, paper/hardback or eBooks?  Lately, ebooks, but the price of them are CRAZY! Omg, I do not think you should pay more than 5 bucks for an ebook, so I might have to go buy some since they are so expensive.

What is your favorite word?  Why?  Oh goodness. I doubt I can say that here so it starts with F and I say it a lot. I think it’s a sentence enhancer. Everything is so much for real when you say it. So I tend to drop the f bomb a lot. Not around my kids though! I’m a good mom! I promise!

Do you have any guilty pleasures?  If so, what are they?  Boy bands, and Disney. I have an issue but I can’t get enough!

Did you always want to be a writer?  You know, I think so. I think it has always been in me and I didn’t know. I am very wishy washy. I’ve wanted to be a lot of things, but this is sticking, and in a way I can be anything I want through my characters.

What is your favorite book you’ve written?  Why?  OH that is like asking which kid is my favorite! Lol. I don’t know, I love Taking Shots cause its my first, and Trying to Score has my heart cause its dirty and yummy, and then Empty Net is just so full of love and heartache that it also has my heart.

Describe what the writing/editing/publishing process is like for you:  lol, its HELL! I love writing, but the editing and the publishing is a pain in my ass. I hate dealing with the editing cause I never know if it is right, and then the publishing, I have a panic attack for at least a week until the first couple 1 star reviews come in and then I just want to die cause oh no someone doesn’t like what I thought was a masterpiece. I probably need help. lol

How would you spend a perfect day?  In Disney World, with my husband and kids. If that doesn’t work, than at the hockey rink watching my guys do their thing.

Can you tell us about any of your upcoming projects?  I am currently working on Blue Lines, which is the fourth in the series. Its gonna be another heart wrenching tale, and I’m so excited to write it!

Book Review for “Taking Shots”

“Taking Shots” by Toni Aleo

Photographer, Elli Fisher, loves hockey – it’s practically what she lives for.  When given the chance to take pictures of her favorite team, the Nashville Assassins, she gladly jumps at the chance!  That’s when she finally meets her long-time crush and captain of the team, Shea Adler, #6.  There is immediate attraction between them from day one, though Ellie doesn’t get why because she doesn’t think she’s his type.  Shea Adler is known for having one night stands with big-boobed blond women, and isn’t supposed to be falling for overweight and very insecure girls like herself.  Once she realizes how persistent Shea is, her confidence grows and grows, only after he breaks every wall that she hides behind and after a lot of work, but Shea doesn’t give up on her – thanks to the sometimes help of Ellie’s best friend Harper, who is also dating an Assassin, and Grace, Shea’s sister.

I loved this book!  Toni Aleo has written a book I will never forget.  “Taking Shots” was such a delight to read.  From beginning to end, I was keeping my fingers crossed for Ellie and Shea.  Not only were these two great as a couple, they were great characters individually who had their own storyline with friends and family.  I loved how the book was written from his and her POV.  I thought it was done very well – and loved how it switched just when I wanted to know that the other was thinking, and the sex scenes were hot!  While it was long and words were repeated quite often, I couldn’t put it down.  If you’re looking for a cute read with a happy ever after ending, then you’ll love this book!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

Gone, But Not Forgotten

February 27, 2012 2 Comments

Hi, y’all!  It’s been about two weeks since I’ve blogged and I’m so happy to be back!

During my hiatus there’s not been a second where I’ve not been thinking about my books (editing my first, and thinking about what to do with my second – self publishing?), reading book for my reviews, my upcoming guests, and of course my fantastic followers!

In the next few weeks I’ll be busy with a few book tours, featuring some wonderful writers (Elizabeth Marx who wrote “Binding Arbitration,” Kathleen Kole who wrote “Favorable Conditions,” Toni Aleo who wrote “Taking Shots,” and Liz Matis who wrote “Love By Design!“)  I also have a few guest posts/interviews that I’m excited about hosting!  And in the midst of it all, I’ll be dedicating the rest of my time to the books I’ve written!

Once again, I’d like to thank my fans, followers, friends, and family for sticking by me.  Your support has meant so much to me!
