Little Gray Dress

Chick Lit Goddess’s Five Favorite Reads of 2018!

December 29, 2018 2 Comments

I can’t believe that 2019 will be here in only a couple of days! Being that I was quite busy writing, I was picky about the books I read this year, and I’m happy to say that a lot of them will stick with me.

In no particular order, here are my top reads of 2018:

“Little Gray Dress” by Aimee Brown

“Bridal Girl” by Meredith Schorr

“Go On, Girl,” by Hilary Grossman

“Tequila Tequila” by Emma Hart

“Taking Her Turn” by “Alexa Riley

What were your favorite reads of the year? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Until next year, my friends, this is Isabella Louise Anderson, and I wish you all the best in 2019!

BOOK REVIEW: “Little Gray Dress”

December 27, 2018 3 Comments

Little Gray Dress by Aimee Brown

Blurb: Emi Harrison has avoided her ex-fiance, Jack Cabot, for nearly two years. Her twin brother Evan’s wedding is about to end that streak. From bad bridesmaids’ dresses, a hyperactive sister-in-law, a mean girl with even meaner secrets, and too much to drink, nothing seems to go right for Emi, except when she’s wearing her little gray dress.

When she speed-walks into Liam Jaxon’s bar, things get more complicated. He’s gorgeous, southern, and has no past with Emi. He may be exactly what she needs to prove for the last time that she doesn’t need or want Jack!

Her favorite little gray dress has made an appearance at nearly every major event in Emi’s adult life. Will it make another grand appearance when she least expects it?

My Review: In need of something to read to take my mind off the stomach bug I had, I decided to download this book that had been on my iPad for a very long time. Not only was the timing right, but it was also just what my heart needed at the end of the year. My review of this sweet, heartfelt, funny, and delightful read was planned to be shared last week, but writing it was something I struggled with–and, no, it wasn’t because of the holidays. It was merely because I was found it hard to find the right words on how to convey my thoughts about this book.

It’s hard to believe Little Gray Dress was Aimee Brown’s debut novel. The writing was superb; the storyline was brilliant (even the surprising twists), and while I’m not one who rereads books, I could easily read this one and love it–if not more–again.

Every chick lit, contemporary romance, and women’s fiction fan needs to read this book. Not only will it make you hold your breath at some scenes, love to hate a specific character until the end (no spoilers), question where the story was going, make you crave more from one particular Hero-like character (no spoilers on this one either), it most-likely will make you cry ugly tears at the end, which I absolutely loved!

I give “Little Gray Dress” 5 stars…If I could give it 10, I would!

**Note: Little Gray Dress has been republished with a new publisher, new title, and new cover as “THE LUCKY DRESS.” Also, please note that Little Gray Dress is only now available in audiobook.
