It’s Fun Friday!

August 17, 2012 6 Comments

**I’m writing this as I’m watching “Friends!”**

My favorite “Friend” is Jennifer Aniston.  I’ve always thought she was a beautiful woman, not to mention she seems confident, smart and we all know she’s talented (though, I’ve been disappointed in her choice of movies). For the ten years that she played Rachel Karen Green, I fell in love with Jennifer Aniston.

I know that before she began dating Brad Pitt, she dated Tate Donovan (who also played her love interest on the show, Joshua).  Now, I was not one who was head over heels for Brad, but he wasn’t bad on the eyes, at least back then.  When the were photographed together, they exuded with happiness and they looked like a truly happy couple.  Once news broke that they would be getting engaged, I was happy for them and wished them a lifetime of love and happiness.  Here are some of my favorite pictures of them:

and then Brad broke her heart!

It’s said to be known that this was they day before they announced their split.  I think Brad’s shirt is very fitting!

While nobody really knows what happened with him and his beloved “Angie” on the set of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” I have my own thoughts and opinions about what occurred.  I once heard that she was asked about Brad and Angelina’s fling on the set.  She responded that she decided to “trust her husband” and that he was faithful to her.  I respect her for handling the situation the way she did.

Since her marriage to Brad ended, she’s been linked to John Mayer, Bradley Cooper and Vince Vaughn.  Of all the guys, I’d have to say I liked her with Bradley Cooper (drool) the best, but I guess she does have a thing with the name “Brad”ly, so that didn’t work.  When she began shooting the movie “Wonderlust,” she met Justin Theroux.  I never saw the movie, but I wasn’t really a fan, but in each picture that I saw of them together, she looked genuinely happy.

In closing, I’m just a normal fan who would like to see her favorite celeb happy.  She deserves the best and if she’s happy, that’s all that matters.  Celebs, especially Jen, has been through so much in her lifetime and we (regular people) have no right to judge her.  Jennifer Aniston’s just living her life!

Here’s to Jen and Justin!  I wish them a lifetime of love and happiness!

It’s Fun Friday

June 8, 2012 2 Comments

I don’t know about you, but deciding what’s for lunch is often the most difficult part of my day.  Monday through Friday, I open my refrigerator, freezer and pantry and just stare, hoping something will catch my eye.  I have nothing to eat, I complain.  The truth is, I have a lot of food, but nothing stands out.  It’s times like this that I will reopen the freezer and pull out a Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones.  I find that’s it’s a lot easier than cooking for one since the hubby’s at work and it’s healthy, so they’re what I settle on.  While I guess the frozen meals aren’t so bad (trust me, they’ve come a long way and no longer taste like cardboard), I’ve started to get bored with them, (I can only add so much Cholula to spice it up a bit!).  My other option for lunch is to have a meal replacement shake, like Shakeology, but I prefer to have them for breakfast since I’m really not a breakfast eater.

I have tried to find a healthy cookbook for one, but it seems like there are tons of ingredients to chop, sauté, cook, leave on simmer…the list could go on for a long time!   THIS is the only recipe I’ve made for lunch, then used the leftovers for dinner with whatever we had that night, (if you like Chipotle, then you’ll like this — it tastes so good).

While I enjoy cooking, I don’t have the time.  It’s important for writer’s to stay focused, so if I’m cooking how can I concentrate on my work without slashing my finger open with a knife?  Grr!

What do you eat for lunch?  Do you have any easy, quick recipes for one?  If now, do you have any comments, solutions, or even advice?

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

It’s Fun Friday: My Top 5 Favorite Chick Lit Sites

May 4, 2012 4 Comments

Ah, Friday!  It’s nice to see you!

If you love the Chick Lit genre and are trying to find a fun and reliable site, the following might help.  I have paid close attention their dedication to their site and what they say about Chick Lit.  Through their blog posts, comments, guests and reviews, it is clear why the following are on my list of the top 5!

#5: Chick Lit Club Connect

#4: The Chick Lit Bee

#3: Chick Lit & Wine

#2: Chick Lit Central

#1: Chick Lit Plus

I also wanted to share THIS link from the Accredited Online Colleges if you’d like more valid Chick Lit sites!  You’ll see that I’m #9 on that list!  How cool is that?!

Anyway, it’s been a busy week and I’m very excited for the upcoming weekend!  I plan on continuing to read a book for review.  I will also be starting a book for a CLP blog tour that I’ll be taking part of in a few weeks.  Editing is another thing I’ll be working on, and I hope to get a good chuck of that out of the way.

I wish you a very happy Friday and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I love necklaces. Simple, signature necklaces. Nothing too fancy, nor too plain. When I saw “Up All Night” and saw Christian Applegate‘s character wear the necklace that read her daughter’s name, Amy, I knew it was perfect for me! There was only episode where I caught her without it. It made me want one!

A few weeks ago on the Today Show, I saw a segment called “Jill’s Steels and Deals.” That’s where I saw that Baublebar.com being advertised! So, I decided to make a necklace in honor of me on Twitter, ILA121209!

While (for some) it not easy to see, it looks better in person. The letters are all caps, so it makes sense, especially between the “L” and “A!’ Yes, it’s not what I expected, but it’s not that bad! I’m proud of this necklace and I am proud to wear it! I love it! I’m proud to wear a necklace that symbolizes me!Well, last week I finally got it, so I thought I’d share it with you!

From here on out I will wear this necklace frequently, and I know people will ask. In fact, I want them to!

Happy Friday, y’all!

Please don’t let the picture below make you want to click off this blog post.  I’m going to share just a few reasons why I like-no, why I love-this Kardashian-Odom woman!

Khloe Kardashian-Odom

I am by no means obsessed with reality-TV, but one day when I was sick, I got hooked on the Kardashian family.  Kim was my favorite, followed by Kourtney, and then Khloe.  That changed when I learned more about their highly dramatic family.  I won’t go into that, but rather I’d rather talk about why I admire and respect the youngest Kardashian, now turned Kardashian-Odom.  Of all the people in the “K” family, some even turned “Jenner,” she’s the one who isn’t in it for the drama, nor her looks.

Khloe: I love her!  I love for the woman she’s become.  She’s overcome hard times, (her father died of cancer, she went to jail for a DUI, she’s gained a lot and lost a lot of weight, and since she’s a celebrity, she’s criticized for each and every move she makes).  I’d like to think that she and I are a lot a like, and here’s why.  We both love our families, are outspoken women, love our husbands to pieces, and think that “friendship” is the root of a marriage.

The Khloe Kardashian-Odom/Jenner Family

Khloe on Family: Khloe has more love and respect for her family than any other celebrity that I know.  Her mom, Kris Jenner, can criticize her for her weight and call her “fat,” but Khloe says it’s all out of love.  Since Kris is her manager (and manager of her other daughters, and son Robert), Khloe respects mother’s judgment and harsh words.  While Khloe might seem “blunt,” and “direct,” as some people call her, she’s the only one who told Kim that her marriage to Kris Humphries would be a bad idea…and she was right.  (HERE is my blog about Kim’s marriage).

Mr. & Mrs. Lamar Odom

Khloe on Marriage: Khloe’s marriage to basketball player, Lamar Odom, came as a surprise.  The had known each other for nine, yes nine, days before they became engaged in 2009, and they are still going strong.  On some blogs and websites, it’s been said that they are one of the strongest celebrity couples.  I agree.  When Lamar got traded to the Dallas Mavericks, I thought it was cool that she made the move with him.  She even Tweeted, “I ride or die for my Lam! It’s where I go… It’s who I am with :),” and then, “I can survive anywhere…As long as I’m with Lam I’m good”  I love her ways of thinking about marriage.  If you watch her spinoff show, Khloe and Lamar, you will see how much these two love one another.  Just because they got married very soon after meeting one another, that doesn’t mean anything.  Oh, and they also made an Unbreakable scent together, (I have it, and LOVE it!)  One more thing, Khloe makes it a big deal about how much Lamar dotes on her, and makes her feel beautiful – no matter that, and that’s one think I love about them-that they show how much they love each other.  Khloe and Lamar, I wish you a very happy life together.

(Her) Weight: Khloe has always been judged about how she looks, but mostly about her weight.  Just recently, she’s been on several talk shows where every interviewer has asked about her weight.  I think it’s inspiring that she finds “curves sexy,” and that she’s comfortable in her own skin.  That’s hot!  I found THIS to be an amazing view of how she thinks about her weight, and about weight in general.

Anyway, when I woke up on Monday and found out that she’d be moving back to L.A. because Lamar and the Dallas Mavs have parted ways, I was sad.  She and Lamar had once lived at the hotel where I got married, The Rosewood Crescent Hotel, and she’d filmed her spinoff show in part of Dallas where I live.

In closing, Khloe has taught me that not every celebrity is alike, and that she’s her own person, no matter what!  I’ll always cheer for her and Lamar, as I wish them love and luck wherever they are!

I’m a baseball fan and I’m so excited that baseball season is finally here!

It’s Opening Day at The Ballpark in Arlington!  To begin the 2012 season, the Texas Rangers play against the Chicago White Sox.  I look forward to going to the game tomorrow night to cheer on my team, who for the past two years have been in the World Series.  As the saying goes, the third time’s the charm, so I’m hoping that this is our year – it just has to be, (because “12” is my lucky number).

Below, I’ve added some of my favorite links:

Happy Friday, y’all!!

My 31st birthday was on Sunday, and what a great day it was.  I’m told that I’m the “girl who has everything,” but I disagree.  I’ve had the same responses for the past couple of years — books, gift cards, and picture frames.  While I do have a lot of books and frames, is there wrong with wanting more?  There’s just no such thing!  Below are my top four favorite birthday gifts!  Take a look and see how awesome they are!

Barnes & Noble Gift Card!

Gift cards from B & N are the perfect gift for anyone!  Who can do wrong with a gift card from the world’s greatest bookstore?  (My hubby might disagree because of the amount of books we have in our house, but I just can’t help myself!)  Having a gift card is the best gift to give a writer because not only do they get to pick out what they want, if gives you the opportunity to pick out something you don’t already have.

Crystalline USB Pen!

I was shopping with my mom one day when I saw this, and I loved it!  All writers need pens and a USB, which is also known as a universal serial bus, (thanks, babe – ha, ha, ha!), so this is a necessary item.  If you’re on the go a lot and work with a laptop during the week, but want to stay home and write on your desk top, then why not have a pen with a USB?  I know I’ll be using this a lot more when my office is ready!  Now, if I could only not misplace this pen.  (Wish me luck on that one).

Leather iPad Pillow!

What would I do without my iPad?  Really, I don’t know how I lived without it!  I read a lot, especially when I’m reading for a review.  When I’m home I read on the couch, and I before I go to sleep I read in bed.  Many of you know how reading on the iPad can be difficult.  Well, this is the perfect solution!  It’s an amazing difference at how comfortable it makes using the iPad!  Try it, and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Customized iPhone Case!

You might remember what my husband gave me last year for my 30th birthday.  (HERE is that blog post).  Well, for the second year in a row, my husband gave me something that I love, love, love — LOVE!  Here’s a picture of it, but trust me, the picture doesn’t do it justice!  (The picture doesn’t show that the phone case is my signature purple!)  It’s simply perfect!

Well, as you can see, I had a great birthday!  Here’s to being 31, and so far, it’s not too shabby!

If you’re a writer, what are some of your favorite gifts you’ve received for your birthday?

Friday’s are the days where I try to write about something other than writing, editing, or publishing, but today I really wanted to share something very exciting with you:

Earlier this week I added the TOURS tab to my website.  This was the next step on my website, and I’m thrilled to be taking part of Samantha’s Chick Lit Plus Blog Tours.  Having this opportunity has introduced me to some wonderful writers, along with their books filled with many memorable characters.

If you look at my new tab, you will see that on Monday will be my very first time for a tour!  I highly encourage you to come back on Monday to see what it’s all about.

**(There will be a giveaway of the book “Binding Arbitration” by Elizabeth Marx, and I know you won’t want to miss it!)

I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend — I know I will!

My post on the 1st, was about Valentine’s Day, so here’s (kinda’) a follow-up.  I hope you find it as alluring and as sexy as I do!  Both of these men have been on the cover as People Magazine’s Sexiest Man!

George Clooney

I remember when I fell in love with George.  He was wearing blue scrubs and had a stethoscope draped around his neck.  Hello, Doctor!  He was the only reason I watched E.R.  There was a mystery about him that intrigued me, so much that seeing him made me swoon.  His voice had this power that made me hang on his every word.  He was my new crush!  When he appeared on Friends, playing a doctor (not his same character), I was pleasantly surprised to see him jumping out of a drama to play in a comedic role.  (His doctor friend was played by Noah Wyle, who is also a cutie!)

One of my favorite movies George (yes, I’m on a first name basis with him) is in is One Fine Day.  I love seeing him play the role of a very sexy daddy.  Other movie roles I’ve liked him in are Oceans Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, where his role of power and sexy combine.

George Clooney only gets better with age, and I love his greying hair.  He’s never in the tabloids, he stays away from bad publicity, and he deserves each nomination and he receives.  For such a sexy man, I love how the leading ladies in his life (he’s currently dating the beautiful Stacy Keibler) are just as attractive as he is.  What lady wouldn’t like to be next to him on the red carpet?

Brad Pitt

I picked this picture because that’s how I’d like to remember him — when he was attractive, and when he seemed somewhat normal.  When I first saw Meet Joe Black, I was a Brad Pitt fan!  There was nothing I didn’t love about him.  His charm in the movie spoke for the man he was in real life.  He was just a good guy who happens to be once engaged to Gwyneth Paltrow, and most famously married to the gorgeous Jennifer Aniston, where they spent reported $1 million dollars on their wedding.  He is now a dad to his six children with partner Angelina Jolie.  (Can you tell I’m against his precious “Angie” and am pro-Jen!) Don’t y’all remember the picture of Jen and Brad on the beach the day before they announced their split and he was wearing a T-shirt that said TRASH!  Well, maybe it speaks for itself during their relationship.

My most favorite movie with Brad is Legends of the Fall where he plays the handsome Tristan.  If you’re a fan of Brad, you have to watch this movie, if you haven’t already.

Brad’s changed over the years, especially since he’s been in the relationship with Angelina.  I’ve not been impressed by some of his comments, or how he handles himself.  I’ve seen him on several Today Show interviews, and each time I grow less and less of fond of his cocky personality, and it’s not attractive.

In closing both George and Brad will be known for their good looks.  They will fit in the category of men (Michael Douglas, Paul Newman, Tom Selleck, Anthony Hopkins, Sean Connery and George Hamilton) who have aged gracefully.

I hope this has been a Fun Friday for you…
